Pricing Guidelines
|
After the questions, “How will it be quilted” and “What type and color thread to use?” comes the question, “How much will it cost?” I have provided a calculator for you to compare prices for the different styles. Keep in mind this is only a guideline, and a firm estimate will be provided only when the quilt is received for quilting. There is a $40-$50 minimum, and a charge for thread and batting. Special “rush” jobs incur an additional expense.
Allover Edge-to-Edge Semi-Custom This style will incorporate allover quilting in perhaps 2 different styles, or a bit of individual treatment to various elements. This style is hard to describe, as it is a combination of allover and custom quilting. The cost is $.03 or 3.0 cents per square inch. Enter 3.0 in the calculator. Custom This style pays individual attention to all elements of the quilt, including the blocks and borders. Quilting density would be considered medium, and stencils or marking may be employed. The cost is $.035 or 3.5 cents per square inch. Enter 3.5 in the calculator. Heirloom This style takes custom quilting a step further. All aspects are individual to your quilt, such as feathered wreaths and borders, ruler work, and elements are designed just for your quilt. Background fills are dense and this is a wonderful choice for that special wedding quilt or sampler. The cost is $.05 or 5 cents per square inch. Enter 5 in the calculator. Now, measure your quilt, (best done while laying flat) and plug in the dimensions and the price of the style you think may work best for your quilt, and you will have a pretty good idea of the cost of the labor. I will estimate for large jobs of more than 3 quilts at a time or special circumstances such as raffle or charity quilts, just ask! |
